One of my core services to clients here in Thailand is Education. I offer workshops to show people 'my secrets' if you like. They are not really secrets just standard stuff us online marketers do, but unless you know where to go it's really difficult, and more times than not, even after the workshops, and they now know what to do, they realize they just don't have the time to do it. A bit like Video games (am I showing my age calling them video games I stopped after play station 1 ) you get better at it with time. The advantage social marketers have is that we have probably been building a decent network on the sites for around two years already, you will always here about the black hat methods to get loads of dodgy accounts on Facebook, but that's always the risk you carry that you get switched off and the is no recourse. So I would say to get a decent ethical following on Facebook, LinkedIn, Ecadamy and Twitter (These are my recommended Social Network sites all are good for different reasons and altogether they will get you out there) takes around 18 months earnest work and you can honestly say you know most of the people in your accounts!
I then offer my clients to run their social media accounts, and this includes setting up pages and groups I have blogged recently about pages and groups and to effectively invite the right people (country specific or even city specific) to those groups and to grow them to at least 500 within six weeks. These takes a team of at least three dedicated people with around 5000 friends each, and to find those people took me around six months. Then to be active every day and find other similar groups wherein you have a good chance of finding your target market takes around 2 hours a day per each person just for Facebook, then the other three sites all told about 5 hours a day.It does not do you any harm either to get onto more Social media sites but then again it's time management and all those damned passwords
Blogs and press releases (part of the social media package) take around an hour each per day to prepare and then the bookmarking and sharing online about another hour each per day. (And to sign up for all those bookmarking sites about 100 good ones, is about a week all told in time)
Viral videos (and to get a video to go viral is another blog for another day unless you are Justin Beiber or you have just fell down one of those sinkholes in China survived and filmed it, you are going to have to have an amazing story to make your company interesting) is another pivotal service I offer, and creation of a video can take weeks of preparation and then after it's all done then the book marking and sharing on all the video sites is at least 2 hours a day.
Online banner ads vital for branding of your company and again I have blogged on the difference between branding and advertising and how many SME's just don't understand the big spend on something that is not going to bring in ROI in the short run, and we all know cash flow is the bread and butter of any SME but vital nevertheless, and to find the right sites for the right message takes a career time to know but just posting and sharing is another 2 hours a day.
So In conclusion I can only take on 3-4 clients a month (working around 10 hours a day online) and you can see why my desk chair is mold
