How Loving The Classics (film That Is) Can Kick Your Boring Lifestyle To The Curb

Do you feel boxed in? Are you slogging along in the same old way

, day by day, week by week, year after countless year? You are also undoubtedly then eating the same stuff, watching the same movies, hanging with the same people, listening to the same music until you bang your head against the wall just because it feels so good when you stop?

Okay, so maybe that's a LITTLE melodramatic. Then again, maybe it's not.

There comes a time in everyone's life when they realize that they've fallen into a rut. That they're doing the same things over and over again, not because they enjoy them but because that's "what they do".

You know what I'm talking about. When you wake up in the morning already knowing what your day's going to look like when it begins. When you don't even bother writing a grocery list anymore, because you already know what you're going to bring home.

Maybe You Can Change

Most of the time, when you're looking for a way to break out of that rut, you look forward. The latest music. The latest toys and gadgets. (5th generation iPhone, anyone?) New clothes. New electronics. New car. Tomorrow's trends, today. Right?

Look back to vintage classic films for a fine rut-busting experience that will give you a whole new outlook on life.

When Was the Last Time You Spent an Afternoon Loving the Classics?

Personally, I love classic film. Casablanca? Legendary. 12 Angry Men? Fabulous.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought movies had more value before we could count on special effects to keep them interesting. In 12 Angry Men, an excellent plot made up for the fact that the entire movie was shot in a single location. Character development compensates for the fact that people are people and still look like people. Savvy shooting had to keep the viewer interested in what was, relatively speaking, incredibly poor film quality compared to what we have today.

Modern films rely greatly on special effects and complex technology to hold the viewer's attention. That detracts the focus from the real meat of the movie, the characters, the story and the overall ambience of the film - everything that led you to sit down and view the movie in the first place.

If you are not a film fanatic, the concept of whether a film is a new boffo box office hit or an oldie featuring the superstars of the 1920's, 30's or 40's will possible mean nothing to you. What difference does it make as long as it holds your interest, yes?

Websites are making these vintage gems available to us again, giving everyone an opportunity to become a classic film devotee. We can now appreciate the modern technology that gives us joy viewing the latest movies while savoring the unique elements of the vintage classics that make them so timelessly entertaining. One has to marvel at how these films of such artistry were made with such crude tools.

And, in the end, to remember what it really is we loved about film in the first place.
