How Marbella Of Spain Is A True Symbol Of Destiny

How Marbella Of Spain Is A True Symbol Of Destiny

This article is written for those who do not already know of this famous millionaires retreat, and of which many other wealthy film stars and the like, not to mention Kings of far distant places, use as their own exclusive holiday resort. Who languish comfortable in the knowledge, that the likes of you and I could just about afford to drive to drool over its fabulous marina, which is also known as Puerto Banus, and which is named after the local property developer who built it in 1970, Jose Banus.

The catalyst which caused such a fairy tale existence of such a place is a fascinating one, because only some 60 years ago, the old town was of its original architecture, and which at the time of its Roman occupation, had been named Salduba, or, Salt City. This coastal area begins from the west side of Calahonda and ends at the town of San Pedro de Alcatara, and is without doubt, host to one of the most exclusive resorts in Europe.

Two different worlds meet here, as you cross the great divide between the narrow cobbled streets of the old town, and walk on to the golden mile stretch, which starts from the Hotel EI Fuerte through to the marina of Puerto Banus. It is so hard to imagine that until the late 1940s, this resort was then just a small jasmine lined village of some 900 inhabitants. That is, until one fine day in the late 1940s, a German prince and his heir happened to driving through the vicinity in their Rolls-Royce, which as we all know, never breaks down.

As luck would have it, they were in the close vicinity of this tiny sleepy village by the name of Marbella. Had the car not broken down, no doubt the prince would have driven through this tiny village without giving it a second glance.

Whilst awaiting repairs to the Rolls, the prince fell in love with the place, so much so, that by 1954 he had built and opened the now famous Marbella Club Hotel. The rest as they say is history, but like all historical events, only destiny can put us in the right time at the right place, and now you know the story, you know why Marbella of Spain is a true symbol of destiny.
