Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP came into origination when Richard Bandler who was a student at the University of California was listening to the taped lectures of some other psychotherapists. He was continuously noticing that a certain pattern of words that psychotherapists used during conversation with their clients made it easy for their clients to accept their suggestions. Based on this point that 'why a certain pattern what psychologists were following in their conversations made their suggestions acceptable to their clients?' he started his work and now Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP has become a discipline for helping people in spending more enhanced and better life.

For understanding the philosophy of Neuro linguistic Programming, imagine three persons, one from them is spider phobic one is not and the third has his spider pets. They are asked to close their eyes and imagine a big spider very close to their eyes. It is obvious that the person who is spider phobic will imagine a comparatively large spider that is too big and too close to his eyes. The spider-lover, who has spiders as pets, will imagine a comparatively correct sized spider at a proportionally distance from his eyes. While the spider neutral person's image will not be correct however. Therefore from spider-lover we can gather useful information and pass it to spider-phobic so that he can overcome his phobia of spiders.

Based on this philosophy, Neuro-Linguistic Programmers claim that they can help people in overcoming their fears, depressions and phobias. They can educate people to self-awareness techniques so that they can properly behave in situations where they have not behaved properly before. Main thing about Neuro Linguistic Programming is that it deals in 'what works' instead of 'what should work'. Therefore Neuro Linguistic Programming is a way of study of the thoughts and experiences of humans.

Based on the nature of this way of treatment some controversies are also there. Neuro Scientists say that the Neuro Linguistic Programming is concerning in practical matters, its methods are not scientifically respectable. Therefore much lack of observational and experimental research is there to legitimize it as a branch of Neuro Science.
