How Nlp Can Make You Happier
First developed on the distant shores of California
, NLP has been used across the world to transform individual lives, businesses and even team psychology. It is the principle that how we approach and react to situations can be directly manipulated to achieve positive results and prevent causing a domino effect on those around us.
The versatility of NLP means it can be effectively applied to any number of situations and problems and in this respect, it changes individual problems, issues or points of unhappiness to transform the bigger picture. This is achieved through a series of direct questions, posed to encourage conversation about individual elements of a person's life. It is the manor in which the questions are answered (or even avoided) and the tone, depth and vocabulary with which they are discussed that forms the basis of diagnosis.
As psychology is a science it was only a matter of time before scientific research began to prove that NLP can directly affect a person's happiness. From the first studies conducted in the 1970's when Bandler and Grinder were developing the techniques to the volumes which have been printed since, the results are conclusive. The research states that in mimicking different behaviour, we don't simply "go through the motions, but the emotions".
Former City boss Mark Hughes used NLP at Rovers after seven consecutive losses; the team went on to win seven of their next eight games, creating happiness not only for the players, but the fans also! Similarly, MUFC sports psychologists have also undergone training to understand the signs and triggers of discontentment and poor performance and transform how they communicate as a team.
Part of NLP's 'mission' so to speak, also focuses on improving esteem and it is no secret that esteem and happiness are directly linked. As is our own happiness and that of the people around us. . If you smile, people back. Thinking better about ourselves makes other feel better about us and, as a wise man once said, happiness is a chain reaction.
