For genealogist, there is option to check public records as most of the records from the last sixty years have already been electronically filed. You can get access to records of marriage, birth or death to 1955 for Maine, stored on microfilm. For those people that got married sometime during the years of 1892-1996, they are able to see the marriage certificate on the internet.
