However, that is not the case at all, and this is precisely the reason why most of us have rather frequent days of waking up tired and not being able to work to the fullest of our potential.

Don't get me wrong here, when I say you are waking up tired, it could be due to a multitude of reasons, some of them medical. However, I am here trying to emphasize the fact that sleep is more important than the attention it is given in the daily life. The first benefit of having a healthy sleep is that you immediately become more attentive, your reflexes quicken, and you are able to perform better at studies or at work. Next up, those who have a good night's sleep do not have any problems of dull skin, dark circles, etc., since the skin has had its fill of nutrition by resting properly. The body's immunity, too, becomes a lot better because of the fact that the natural defense mechanism of the body is replenished and the body is better equipped to handle infections and similar harmful effects. Further, those of you who are health conscious must know that lack of sleep disturbs the metabolism of the body, thus resulting in unnecessary weight gain.

Thus, as you can see, waking up tired isn't the only thing that is a problem when you are not sleeping properly; there are a lot more issues associated with healthy sleep.
