This particular system is so effective that it removes all particles from the water, even the ones that we need. Because of this, some minerals may have to be re-introduced into your family's diet.

The filtering process has holes that only allow water molecules through. Because of the way it works, it requires constant maintenance over time. Cleaning the membrane consistently will ensure the proper operation of the system for the entire home.

Since reverse osmosis is normally used to separate seawater from drinking water, it is especially good for removing salt and other contaminating particles. One surprising fact is that this process is used in the manufacturing of maple syrup. Because it separates the water from the sap, it allows the syrup to remain pure without being diluted. Car wash owners also use this process so the automatic dryers do not have to work as hard to get the water off of the vehicles.

The list of particles that can be removed by reverse osmosis is actually fairly long. It includes chlorine, fluoride, microorganisms, radioactive materials, bacterial parasites and several other atom-size materials. Heavy metals in your drinking water can create problems with our internal organs, so removing these before ingesting drinking water improves your health and that of your family.

Because reverse osmosis water systems do remove so much, you will have to look into replacing some necessary minerals and nutrients into your family's diet. Many times, cities will add fluoride into their water system to help with the children's teeth. So if your water filtration system removes it, you will have to get that from another source, in order to make up for the deficiency.
