How Search Engines Make Your Page Real: Part 3
What is white hat SEO?
The white hats are considered the good guys from a search engine's perspective because these experts see the search engines as a friend and they work to please both the search engines and the general public when people search for relevant web pages.
White hat methods include all the basics plus taking those basics a bit further. These pros can research popular trends for keywords and they can guide you in PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising. For larger web sites they will create landing pages that fill the need for search engines and site visitors.
All in all there are a number of useful methods and tools at their disposal for enhancing your web pages.
Organic search engine marketing
First off let's understand what search engine marketing is all about. As the term implies it is about using search engines to have a site place high in a search return based on optimization, paid placement, paid inclusion and contextual advertising. These are the normal methods of getting a web site's link in front of human eyes. In some ways it's like have a business ad in the yellow pages.
Organic Marketing
The organic part of the process means that paid methods are not used. A small business owner will still pay a SEO professional for the work, but the work will not involve payment to the search engines for the top placement results that are achieved in this way.
Organic SEO is not strictly natural because it is more than natural. As mentioned in other articles, most small business web sites do not even get the basics of SEO set up on their pages, and if this is natural then it is not very healthy for business. Therefore, the term organic means more than just natural, it means that some careful farming has to happen.
This can best be illustrated in a bit of rural humour
In a rural community there was a local farmer by the name of George Smith who had the most beautiful farm in the county. One day the Minister of the local church was out driving around and though he would stop in and chat with George. The Reverend parked his car in the yard and got out and looked around enjoying the beauty of the farm's fields, fences, river, barns and livestock.
George spotted the Reverend of his church and came over to say hello. As George approached the Reverend of his church the Minister said, "You know George, God sure has blessed you with this wonderful farm."
George paused, and then said, "You know Reverend, there's not a day goes by that I don't thank the good Lord for this land, but you should have seen it when he had it all to Himself."
Whether it is organic search engine marketing or just organic web marketing it is all an improvement over the natural state of the web. And the story above tells you that a lot of goodness for your business can be grown and nurtured from the wild and natural state of the web.
A word about article writing
Some people writing articles put a copy on their blog or business web site but I don't recommend this for the simple reason that identical content is not as valuable as original content and the placement of your web site can suffer if it contains identical content.
That is why I have chosen to write different content for articles. I am not concerned about how many article directories use the same article, or how many web site owners want to use the article because it will not affect the original content on A Better World Business Club. But, if our web site had identical content as the articles I publish in directories then it would have an effect on the web site.
Some authors will want to use spinning software to mix up the article and save the time of writing original content, but really, for the life span of an article or a web page it just seems to be pure laziness to do that.
