How Sleep Can Be Good For The Skin
Getting enough sleep nowadays can be hard for some people who are either extremely busy with work or have difficulty sleeping at night.
But do you know that sleep can o more than replenish the body's natural energy to continue its everyday chores.?
In fact, sleeping for a good number of hours is the body's natural way of recuperation. After a stressful day at work, sleep takes off worries from the mind and tension from the body. This gives us an energized, revitalized feeling when we get up.
The amazing thing is that skin cells do much of their repair work while we are sleeping. This is the time when collagen production peaks (collagen is a protein that holds skin tissues together and therefore maintains the skins youthful look). In other words, sleep helps our skin to maintain its healthy and youthful glow.
On reverse, the lack of sleep can take its toll on people's health and can manifest on how our skin looks, especially the face:
a) worry lines like crow's feet and deep nasty frown lines in the middle of the brows,
b) tired, dry eyes and dark skin under the eyes
c) excessively oily skin which may lead to skin irritation and development of acne or which may worsen acne condition
That's why some skin care products have better effect when they are applied at night and when the body is at rest. This holds true for products like anti-aging creams and vitamin C serums are usually light-sensitive and might not yield optimal results when the skin is too busy fighting off elements during the day.
As for acne problems, keeping the face clean is the best way to avoid pimples and other impurities. Apart from getting enough rest, people should make it a habit to wash the face in the morning and at night before going to bed.
Sleep is just one of the natural ways to keep a healthy-looking skin. Even though good sleep is difficult to get in these hectic times, people should make it a point to rest properly and regularly to maintain over-all health of not only the skin, but the body and mind.
Of course, solutions to some skin conditions like photo-aging and hyperpigmentation lie on other methods instead of the natural ones like enough sleep or proper diet. For these problems, people need to go to the experts and ask them about skin-care solutions that would work on their particular skin condition.
