Write the draft using plain simple English even if that means using several words instead of one. Forget the rules of grammar that you have learnt when you were in the school. Attorney often depend upon earlier court rulings and precedence and wrangling over the language or its interpretation has little to with grammar as you understand them.

Some words can be really confusing and stand every chance of being misplaced. For example if you are about to make a rent agreement mention the parties as landlord or tenant as the case may be, rather than as the first part or the second part to the contract. There is every possibility of interchanging them when making a draft. That can put you into very embarrassing situation should you get embroiled in a suit. Likewise keep your draft well spaced so they don"t get mixed up.

Before you make the draft keep a pad or a separate sheet of paper and note down all the points you want your attorney to include in the contract to make a perfect deal. Your attorney is not a mind reader, he can only give the best out of the draft you give him or her. If you are making the draft on a computer run the speller checker and make changes. Better still consult a dictionary and go by it. Names of cities and street names should be the same as it appears in municipal documents. Avoid slangs and words that are difficult to understand and you will not appreciated for that either.

Once you have given the document to your attorney and you have received his copy of the draft, run through it with a sharp eye for detail. Get them corrected, read again before it is ready to be signed and stamped. Attorneys can be expensive to hire, so negotiate the fee beforehand. Quality services come at a price and that you shouldn"t forget.
