How To Add Surround Sound To Your Used Hifi System
There are many people who look for options to improve the digital audio quality produced by their used HiFi system
. As you have already invested a substantial amount in purchasing an audio system based on your musical tastes and hobbies, it becomes essential to consider using additional accessories and tools and save your money. With most of the latest movies, television programs and other digital content made with HD surround sound; you have to explore options to add surround sound to your HiFi system. You can avail the professional assistance of an audio technician, or simply follow some simple instruction to add surround sound to your audio device on your own.
Required Equipments: When you decide to add surround sound to your used HiFi system, you have to buy a receiver equipped with a specialized surround sound processor. The surround sound processor will be effective in decoding individual audio signals based on their source like television programs, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. Further, you can also use the existing stereo speakers of your audio device in addition to these speakers. The receiver with surround sound processor also needs to be complemented with a powerful subwoofer to produce high quality and multichannel audio.
Connecting to the Audio Device: You have to start the process by connecting the HiFi component to the jacks by referring to the labels posted at the back of the surround sound receiver. You can use standard stereo cable with white and red plugs at each end. The white plug of the stereo cable will be connected to the left audio channel, whereas the red plug will be connected to the right audio channels. Also, most of these receivers come with multiple jacks to get connected to different audio sources like CD players and tape decks. You also have option to use the auxiliary jack of the stereo cable to connect it to your used HiFi systems like reel-to-reel tape deck.
Attaching Existing HiFi Speakers: Now you can attach the existing stereo speakers of the system to the surround sound receiver. Connect the two stereo speakers to the left and right speaker terminals placed at the back of the surround sound receiver. While attaching the speakers, strip the wire by inch from each end, and connect these ends to the positive and negative terminals of the receiver. Also, you need to ensure that the wire attached to the positive terminal of the speaker must be connected to the positive terminals of the receiver. The exact attachment of stereo speaker will have an impact on the quality of digital audio produced by your used HiFi system.
Configuration: After attaching the existing stereo speakers to the surround sound receiver, you have to connect the center speaker to the terminal placed on the receiver and labeled as center. Also, the left and right rear speakers need to be connected to the LR and RR terminals on the receiver. Now plug on one end of the subwoofer cable into the Sub Out jack on the receiver. Similarly, plug in the other end of the jack onto the rear end of the sub. Now the process is over and your used HiFi system can produce high quality surround sound.
