How To Article Market Effectively
Article marketing can be one of the most effective branding techniques if used properly. The purpose of article marketing, contrary to most article marketers understanding, is not to advertise your company or service directly, but, rather, indirectly by establishing yourself as an expert in your field.
Articles that are written with the education of the reader in mind go a long way to establish the writer and the company of the writer as the premier source of information regarding a particular subject matter.
Unfortunately, when browsing article directories, it is all to clear that many article marketers simply write ads about themselves or their company or services. For this reason, they do not reap the potential benefits that article marketing has to offer.
Many article marketers use this avenue of advertising for the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) benefits that it brings, namely, the links. However, the real power of effective article marketing comes not from the resource links that are in the resource box, but in potential for syndication that an article has should it's content make it go viral.
An example of an article that will not get widely syndicated is one that is entirely self-serving. A hypothetical example of this would be an article submitted by an SEO firm that writes more about itself than about the needs of it's clients. A self-serving article may read like this:
"Here at (company name) we specialize in SEO. If you are located in (location) and you want to dominate local search for your search term, here at (company name) we can help you. Here at (company name), we have been in business for a number of years and we are the foremost authority in SEO."
As you can see, this article sounds like a sales pitch for that particular SEO company. If someone is browsing an article directory looking for an SEO company to hire, then that article may persuade them to purchase their services. However, the odds of someone finding their SEO company this way are very low.
An even more important point to consider is the fact that an article written in this fashion is not attractive to other webmasters. Other webmaster will not publish self-serving articles to their own site simply because they do not add value to their own readers. For this reason, the writer of the article will not benefit from syndication and their article will quickly disappear into the archives.
So, how should an article be written so as to benefit the writer through syndication? That is the question we want to answer.
