Most cleaning work is routine, but the problem is keeping safe while working at heights. As a rule, we consider such a task lightly and run the risk of falling and getting seriously hurt.

It will also ensure that you get a thorough job done, without missing any corner or pane.
Next write a checklist of all the tools and accessories required; such as step ladders, long handled brushes, etc. Go through all of them in detail to determine whether they are operational or not. Stepladders that wobble or are missing rungs are a big no-no. Immediately replace them or get them repaired properly. For heavy work such as installing windows, erect scaffoldings, to give support and wear a safety harness. Many a mishap can be averted by just doing a little homework and learning how to use equipment properly before using.
Last but not the least, use appropriate safeguards to ensure that others passing below come to no harm, due to any unforeseen accident. If possible secure the area below and cordon it. Tools should be ideally be roped, to prevent from falling down.
Ultimately, it is your own personal approach that counts. It is best not to hurry or rush through such work. Take it slowly and never look for shortcuts. Not only will you complete the job without hurting anyone, but you will come away with the satisfaction of having done the job well.
