Don't buy a home with a structural problem. While you might not think it's a big deal, if the structure starts to fail, it's going to cost you thousands of dollars to fit it which will most likely come out of your pocket.

Don't buy something that you can barely afford. Many make this mistake then are left with very little cash. When there are little problems that need to be fixed, you will barely have anything left to make these payments.

Buying a home when you already have quite a bit of debt is a mistake. You will get a lower loan, a smaller home, and have less to spend on everything as your income is tied up in managing your debt.

Buying a home without an understanding of the neighborhood is a problem. You might not know who lives there, how loud the neighborhood gets, what is going on in it, and how safe it is. It's possible to buy the right home in the wrong place.
