If you want to take the next step and become a pediatric nurse practitioner, you will need to earn a master of science in nursing and meet the state nursing boards requirements to become recognized as an advanced practice nurse. The median salary for registered nurses on staff in pediatrics is $57,597, and for nurse practitioners it is $80,414.
