How To Boost The Performance Of Your Pc

Computers are like car engines, which need to be fine tuned from time to time to keep them running at peak performance

. If you don't maintain your PC, then it can greatly affect how you accomplish your work, and how you enjoy leisure activities like web surfing and gaming. So what techniques can you use to improve on this aspect of your PC?

Spend some time with your PC. Review the specifications of your personal computer. What are the weak points of your system? Does it have a particularly shoddy memory? If it does, and you are having trouble lately, maybe it's time to back up those files and reformat your computer, so that you would be able to remove all the cobwebs that you have accumulated through time. There is a fifty-fifty chance that reformatting your personal computer would bring back the efficiency of use- because everything is pristine again.

Here is another factor to ponder on: is your computer safe? When you spend hours surfing the web and downloading stuff, chances are you are inviting viruses and spyware to feast on your system. Have you ever heard of personal computers termed as Aquariums? These are things you wouldn't want to end up with.

So what are Aquariums? They are PCs that serve as collections of thousands of viruses that have accumulated over a long period of time. This is because these PCs have been poorly taken care of, with little or no maintenance, and zero antivirus software to boot.

If still your PC is running at a snail's pace, then perhaps you have a low computer memory. Perhaps the software you constantly use take up a lot of memory just for them to be installed and to run. Even if you are not currently using the software, they can be running in the background, causing your system to slow down. If this is what you have detected, then uninstall some of the software that you rarely use to maintain your PC.

If the problem is an anti-virus software, then maybe it's time that you buy another one that is not so memory intensive. Some anti virus software take over so much of the capacities of the personal computer that everything slows down.

Again, all these can be accomplished if you know your computer first. There is also the question of age- there is a possibility that your personal computer is already aged, and the motherboard is already failing. If this is the case then you are in a particularly sticky situation- grounded motherboards are hopeless cases. Having them repaired is ultimately useless, because you would still be spending a lot more in the little repairs than just buying a new motherboard. In this case, be prepared to invest once again the long run. This is especially true for personal computers that are more than 5 years old.
