How To Brew Your Own Beer At Home

So, you want to brew your own beer? Well, it's a lot easier than you may think

, it's a lot of fun, and the end result tastes delicious. In this guide, you'll get simple and easy home brew instructions for home brewing beer - ales, lagers, stout, and even the legendary Goat Scrotum Ale.

First, look for the ingredients in your favorite super market. Don't worry about where to find it because you can actually find them in kits.

Homebrew recipes:

- 1 kg brewer's yeast

- 1 oz Northern Brewer pellet hops

- 3 lbs light dried malt extract

- 3/8 cup sugar for bottling

- 8 oz crushed crystal malt

Prepare your equipments. (Remember to sanitize everything!)

- A brew pot

- A large funnel

- 1 kitchen thermometer

- A kitchen strainer

- Bottling containers

- Clear poly-vinyl tubing

- A rolling pin

- 3 gallon container of bottled water

- And last but not least, bottles!

Home brew instructions:

Crush the grain

By using a large heavy freezer bag, pour in approximately 8 ounces of the crystal malt at a time then crush the grain using a rolling pin.

Steeping

First, pour 1/2 gallon of water then mark the level of that 1/2 gallon on your water gallon. Then pour up to 2 1/2 gallon on your brew pot, but leave some up to 3 inches of space on the top of your pot. Add your crushed grains and turn the heat up to 150 - 155 degrees. Turn off the heat then cover the brew pot for about 30 minutes. Use the strainer to strain the left grains.

Boiling

Boil the brew pot. Remove the heat, and then stir the malt extract. Heat and boil again. Be careful not to over boil it. Once you've controlled the boil, add 2/3 oz of hop pellets and maintain the boil for 1 hour. Turn off the heat and add the remaining hop pellets. Then cover it and let it steam for 10 minutes.

Air lock

A practical way to brew your own beer is to make an improvised air lock using the poly-vinyl tube. Drill a 3/8" hole in the water bottle cap. The airlock fits snugly in that hole. This is to let carbon dioxide, produced during the fermentation, escape while the air outside is kept from getting in.

Cool and pour the wort

You now have wort or the non-fermented beer. Put the pot into a sink and add some water with ice on the sink to accelerate the cooling process. At this point, sanitation is most important. Pour the wort into your 3 gallon water bottle by using a funnel with a strainer.

Pitching the yeast and fermentation

Add the yeast into the non-fermented wort if it's at approximately room temperature. Let it ferment for 7 to 10 days. Hide it from direct sunlight; put it inside a cool dark room.

Priming

Boil 3/8 cups of sugar on 1 cup of water for 5 minutes. Cover and let cool, then pour into a sanitized container. Then siphon your beer from the fermenter to the bottling container.

Bottling and aging

Soda bottles and caps will do. After bottling your beer, prepare it for aging. Let it age in the bottle without putting it in the freezer for another 7 to 10 days. Home brewing beer is now a success!
