How To Build A Garden Bench
Once the garden is complete, you may want to sit down and relax amongst the greenery. To do this, a garden bench may be required. Garden benches are available aplenty at furniture shops and garden supply shops. But for those who love making things, building a garden bench may also be feasible.
To build a bench, the main things that are needed are frames of good, tough wood; like teak, oak, pine or poplar. And then strong glue and some screws and 3d finish nails are required. The number of nails and wood required depends on the design of the bench. But for a simple garden bench, the plank for the seat and back, wood for the armrests and blocks for the four legs are required. Building a garden bench is a complicated process wherein the measurements of the lengths of the four legs have to be equal, the size of the back rest and the seat has to be equal and if arm rests are required, and then the two armrests of the two sides of the bench have to be equal. Basically, all these parts have to be attached at the correctly measured points to balance and counter balance each other. The joining of the parts can be done using glue and screws and nails. If the correct measurements are not adopted, then the bench may collapse at the first attempt of sitting on it!
Upon the completion of the bench, you should both sand and finish it as required or let it be left uncoated to weather to a beautiful silver-gray. Whatever the finish you choose, it is wise to build a garden bench only if you are very adept at woodwork. Otherwise, it is always better to get a carpenter to do it for you or to buy it from a furniture shop!
