How To Build Your Own PC

It is very popular to 'build' a PC from scratch

. To some, this may seem like a daunting task, but it is incredibly simple, and has many benefits. First of all, it saves money, and is easier to upgrade (PC companies make proprietary designs to make sure persons return to them for parts). Also, it follows the concept 'what you put in is what you get out', meaning you decide your budget and you decide what you want in your PC. In addition to these benefits, you also gain familiarity with the components of your PC system.

When make the choice of building a PC, you need to consider:

Component Selection Many PC manufacturers tend to use low quality equipment and components from somewhat shady brand names in order to save money and maximize profit. Sometimes, they may also build components themselves to help reduce the cost of buying hardware from other companies. This may be okay for the average PC buyer, but they do not know that they are not getting their money's worth. When you hand-pick your own components, you can make sure that they are made by reputable brand name, such as a RAM chip from Kingston, or a GPU from AMD.

Price It is already a conceived notion that building a PC is cheaper than paying for a PC off-the-shelf. When buying from a PC company, you basically are paying for the costs included in buying your own PC, including time. If you have enough time though, you could increase your performance: price ratio and save 100s of dollars building a PC with the same capabilities as the store bought model.

Warranty Many pre-built PCs feature a warranty for the system and each component, ensuring you receive compensation for faulty hardware. When building your own PC, you lack this option. However, homebuilt PCs are less likely to fail, because components are bought from reputable name brands, and these components also have warranties appended to them. Either way, you get the same support.

Software Pre-built PCs come with a lot of software on them, which they get at reduced pricing because they buy in bulk. However, this multitude of software can cause a PC to operate slowly, and many annoying notifications may appear on the PC screen. You can limit the amount of software on your PC, and regulate the installation of new programs. For persons on a budget, you can save money by migrating to Linux, which offers free software, and a free operating system. My personal favorite OS is Ubuntu, because of its high personalization abilities.

Prebuilt PCs are very popular, but I prefer homemade PCs. When a premade PC gets outdated, the user has to buy another up to date system, where in the home built PC, you can easily upgrade individual components.
