How To Buy Your First Domain Name

Buying your first domain is exactly like buying your first house... the only difference is: its your "internet house"! The registration of a domain is a very simple process, yet many people manage to mess up something! That is the reason why I am writing this article! I will show you step by step what you have to do to get it all done correctly...

Step 1: Selecting your domain name

Now this is the most cruical part of the enitre process! Take your time to choose a good domain name. If you want it to be the domain name of your personal blog or website, then try to get one with your name in it... Since my name is Marawan Amer, it would be a wise decision if I use my initials in my domain name! If you are reviewing a site and want to target specific keywords, then by all means try to get the exact one!

Step 2: Go to the official GoDaddy Website to register a domain

I highly recommend GoDaddy because it is simply the easiest platform to help you purchase your new domain name because its interface is very newbie friendly and self-explanatory! You will see an empty box on the main website where you can search for your desired domain name... Now lets say that you cant find a .com for the one your are searching(.com is the best solution because Google and the other search engines prefer it and it also looks much more familiar to internet surfers), then try adding a hyphen in between the words, just like I did with my personal blog name.

Step 3: Buy the domain

There is nothing special about that... after you have choosen which one you want, then just click on next (GoDaddy will offer you the possibility to buy more domain names for a much cheaper price but I dont think this is necessary... you only need one until now). After entering all the required information, just click on buy and you have completed the process.

Wordpress is the simplest way to get started for people just starting out in the internet world and Id recommend sticking to wordpress for the beginning!
