Instead of purchasing fruits you can simply plant a fruit tree in your yard and have fruits coming in consistently. It is up to you to choose the type of fruit tree you will need, but it is important to care for the tree so it will flourish.

Pears are very popular fruits, it has a great taste and is said to be related to apples. It also has numerous health benefits. The fruit contains potassium, fiber, vitamin B and C and carbohydrates. Pears are good for blood pressure, inflammation, energy, colon health and constipation. Due to these and several other benefits, planting a pear tree will prove worthwhile in the end. If you are planning to plant a pear tree choose one that is at least one year old.

If you are planting more than one at a time they must be at least 20 feet from each other. If you want the most advantageous fruit production you should plant at least two trees. It is best to do the planting in the spring. This is because they are still dormant during this time. When you are planting the trees, ensure that the hole is at least four times the size of the root ball. The next step is to put the tree in the whole, ensuring that the root ball is on a level plain with the ground. Put water in the ground so that the root ball can absorb it. Apply mulch to the area surrounding the tree.

It is best to stake the young tree for the first two years because during this time the root system is usually shallow. Put the stake on the outside of the plant hole and use something strong and flexible to secure it. Although the stake should be properly secured, it should not be so tight that the tree cannot move in the wind. Before the tree begins to blossom it should be fertilized, but if the tree is planted in fertile soil you can skip this step.

Before springtime each year, check the pear tree for branches that touch each other or grow inwards and remove them. It is also important to spray the tree in order to control pests. When the tree is strong enough you can remove the stake. When the fruit turns light green and have brown seeds, they can be harvested.
