How To Care For Your Miltonia Orchid To Get The Best Results

The Miltonia orchid, also referred to as the Pansy is a very popular flower indeed

. One of the reasons for this increasing popularity is its unique beauty, having many colors which attract people who wish to plant them indoors and outdoors.

One of the great things about this particular flower is that it can easily be grown and cultivated at home without having to go to extraordinary lengths. If you plan on growing one of these orchids, then you will definitely want to know how to care for it so you will be able to have it around as long as you can.

As far as temperature goes for this type of orchid, it is ideal to have them in an environment that is around 75-80 degree Fahrenheit with a night temperature which should reach at least 60 degrees, not exceeding anymore than 65. As long as exposure is not prolonged for an extended period of time, severe temperature changes can be tolerated by this orchid. You should make an effort however to keep the temperature consistent during the day and at night though.

You must also have to think about light. In order to bring this flower to full bloom, you will need to keep a steady bright ray of light on it. If you plan on keeping it indoors, then it is highly recommended that you find a nice spot by a window where it will receive all the natural sunlight it needs to flourish and grow. Although a little bit of sunlight is acceptable, its important that you not overdo it, as this can cause the flower to wilt and dry up quickly. Its important to not exceed 2 hours of sunlight for this plant.

Water is yet another very important thing to consider when growing your Miltonia orchid into bloom. While you have probably heard that many orchids require a period of time during the day to dry out, this is not the case with Miltonia. It is important to keep this plant as evenly moist as possible, watering throughout the year in all seasons. You can feel free to give it plenty of water early in the morning, allowing them to dry out by the time night falls. You will only have to worry about watering it once each week during the winter and twice in the summer months.

When it comes time to repot your orchid, you will need to remember that this particular flower does best in bark. You will want to repot it at the very least twice each year, or when you begin to notice that the medium used for potting has started decaying. It is important to be observant, so you will be able to keep your orchid as healthy as possible for a long period of time. For fertilizers you will want to focus on those who are high in nitrogen, as they have proven to do best with them. Doing all of these things will greatly help in keeping your orchid around so you may enjoy its beauty.
