How To Change The Graphic On A Pop Up Banner Stand

Pop up banner stands are a popular type of portable display system, being used widely for promotional purposes at exhibitions, events and trade shows. Most pop up stands are supplied with a printed graphic panel that is attached to the mechanism of the display. The printed panels is normally used to promote a businesses product or service and of course the message may need to be changed.

Many owners of pop up stands choose to throw-away the display stand in it's entirety when in fact, this is not usually necessary. It is cheaper and more environmentally-friendly to simply remove the existing print and replace it with a new one and the process is very simple.

Most roller banners feature an internal spindle that is spring tensioned and housed inside a casing. The tension on the spindle acts with a downward force, thus the printed panel is rolled away inside the casing when not in use.

To remove the print, it is necessary to lock this mechanism to prevent the spring mechanism from pulling down on the graphic. This will allow a simple removal of the printed graphic without the potential of losing tension in the mechanism itself.

Step 1

First wind out the printed panel from the base mechanism of the stand. You can do this by rolling-out the graphic until the print is extended as far as it will go. At this point, you will see that the print is attached to a PVC strip which is in-turn attached to the roller mechanism.

Step 2

On the side of the pop up banner stand you will find a small hole, approximately the diameter of a match stick. You will need to insert a small pin into this hole which will lock the mechanism and prevent the print from rolling-down back into the base.

Step 3

Now the print is exposed, you can peel off the banner from the base and fasten your new print using a strong double sided tape. It is recommended that you use parcel tape to add additional strength to the join.

Step 4

With the new print fitted, peel-off the top rail from your banner stand and fit it to the new print using suitable double sided tape. If your banner stand uses a clamp type rail then simply un-clamp the rail from your old print and re-clamp it to your new print

Step 5

With the print attached securely to the stand and the top-rail in-place, remove the locking pin you have inserted into the side of the stand and allow the print to roll back inside the casing.
