How To Choose The Right Bathtub

There are a plethora of choices of bathtubs that you can purchase for your home

. Knowing what you want will help in deciding which type to buy. There are bathtubs that are elegant in design yet simple in functionality and there are ones that are simple in design but offer a multitude of massaging jets and heat controls. Here are a few words of advice to help you know what you have to choose from.

The first thing you'll want to consider is the size of the tub. You might be thinking that just a standard size tub will do, but you also have the option to get a tub that is a little deeper and longer if you want. These bigger tubs are great if you plan to "share" the tub with a loved one, or you yourself are a bigger and taller person.

Standard tubs are typically about 5 feet long, just over a foot deep and about 3 feet wide. You can customize the size to whatever you want if you have money to do so, otherwise they do make 6 and 7 foot long tubs with even deeper and wider dimensions. When shopping for new bathtubs don't just take what you see for granted. Get in the tub and try it out! You'll never know how comfortable it may be if you don't actually crawl in and take a seat. Sure it's going to feel a bit different when it's full of water and suds, but at least you will get a general idea and can make a more informed decision about the tub.

Once you figure out the style and size of the tub you like, the next choice is going to be the color. Most people think of a white or cream colored tub as these are the most used colors, or at least were some time ago. Today however you can choose from a multitude of colors and color schemes. Many people do buy them to match the sink and/or toilets in the bathroom. Others use it to match the color or theme of their walls and general dcor of the bathroom itself.

My advice is to not go too overboard and wild with the color choice. If you ever plan on selling the home, its best to choose something more subtle and a color that won't detract with the possibility of selling your home.

Last but not least, you'll have to choose the material in which the tub is made out of. The more money you spend, the more durable and better material you will be able to choose from. Cast iron is generally the most expensive and best material, but you can spend less and still get a good quality tub. Steel, acrylic, and fiberglass are good choices as well.
