How to choose the college? It is supposed to be the first strategic decision in a life of young person

. All the rest decisions he/she had in a life before were tactic.

What is a strategic decision?

Strategic decision determines human life for many years ahead. To correct the strategic decision is impossible as a rule. There are, of course, some exceptions but they are connected with great losses such as time, money, image, etc.

The example of the strategic decision can be the following. Someone decided to become rich very quickly. He robbed a bank. Later he/she was caught by police and sentenced to be put into a jail for 10 years. During the next 10 years his/her life would be subordinated to particular rules and schedule. And nothing can be changed.

That is why the choosing of a college is a strategic decision. The price for a mistake is very high here. It is good enough when a freshman would understand he/she made the wrong decision after a couple months of studying. And if one would not have enough courage to recognize it? Then one would face with a problem of lost years, favourable opportunities, desperation in studying and in life, loosing of faith in oneself.

For successful decision making one should answer two important questions:

1) What do I want after the graduating of a college?

2) What for do I want to enter the college?

As a rule, school-leavers ask themselves such questions not very often. It is not good. To enter the college is not the aim. To get the degree certificate is not the goal as well. The obtaining of the education is not an aim. It is the opportunity to achieve the goal. A goal to create a life one wants. And what life would you like to have?

A strategist wants to study not for the sake of degree certificate, not for the sake of the parents, not for the sake of motherland. He does it not because all the rest do the same. One wants to study to realize ones own potential and make ones own dreams true.
