How To Choose The Right Kitchen Design

For some of us our kitchens are our havens, it is a place where we prepare meals

for those we love and for those who love cooking and baking it can provide them an escape from the daily routine of work. We love getting together with friends during the holidays. When entertaining at home, people always seem to gravitate to the kitchen. Everyone knows the food gets prepared in the kitchen so they end up there. Maybe it's time to start planning your parties around the kitchen?

In the 1950s a kitchen design concept was introduced and this was the kitchen triangle. The kitchen triangle was based on 3 important work areas in the kitchen. This is the sink, stove and refrigerator. The 3 areas were closely situated to each other forming a triangle. This helped those in the kitchen preparing food and washing dishes become efficient in their tasks.

Today, as more and more kitchen appliances are being invented, the concept of kitchen design has changed as well. This is an advantage as our lifestyles and needs have also changed in the process. A new concept in kitchen design is the work zones. Work zones have accommodated more areas for other appliances that are now being used.

According to Debra Tan who is a kitchen designer, "With kitchen zones, appliances, storage and counter space are designated for each task; Preparation, Cooking, Cleanup, Storage and Eating. When properly laid out, everything needed to prepare and serve meals are within a few steps of where it is used most often and interference between activities is minimized."

This makes it easier for us to prepare meals and accomplish the other chores that go with it. Work flow in the kitchen is smooth and regulated. With our busy schedules it was surprising for me to find out that people have been spending quite some time in their kitchens. These may be due to some people use cooking as their stress reliever. They find joy and comfort in cooking and that is why a whole lot of time is spent in the kitchen. This makes it even more important to make sure that your kitchen design works for you.

The kitchen zones can accommodate areas for television and laptops, things that may make your stay at the kitchen more pleasant. You can also incorporate a good sound system for your kitchen design so that while you are cooking you can listen to music that can soothe your stress away.
