How To Clean A Chain Link Fence

If you have a chain link fence, you have a fence that is very easy to maintain

. Chain link fences are flexible enough to be resistant to damage from impacts and other accidents, but strong enough to avoid damage from scratching, water, and chemicals. Because of this, chain link fences are known as an economical choice that does not involve sacrificing effectiveness.

However, no matter how easy your chain link fence is to keep in working order, you will still need to spend a little bit of effort to keep it looking its best. You can keep a chain link fence clean using the following instructions.

Before you begin to clean your chain link fence, you will need to gather your materials together so that you have convenient access to them. To clean your chain link fence, you will need mild soap, water, and a large sponge or rags. Your soap can be dish soap or any other mild cleaner. Mix plenty of whatever soap you are using with the water in the bucket. Finally, get your garden hose out, and set it up so that it is in range of your chain link fence. You are now ready to begin cleaning.

Now that you are all set up, you can begin to clean your chain link fence. Get your rags or sponge into the bucket and let them absorb soapy water. If necessary, wring them out slightly to avoid making a mess. Once you have done this, use them to apply soapy water to your chain link fence. If you see any particularly dirty areas, scrub them hard to get them clean. Otherwise, simply coat your fence in soapy water without putting too much effort into it. You may need to continually add more soapy water to your sponge or rag.

You are almost finished cleaning your chain link fence. The only things remaining are rinsing your fence and letting it dry. Get out your garden hose and use it to spray the fence, making sure that you don't miss any spots. If you have a sprayer attachment, use it to hit a wider area on the fence. Otherwise, you can improvise one by putting your thumb over the end of the hose. Either way, rinse the entire fence and allow it to dry in the sun. You should only have to clean your chain link fence once a year, if that often.
