How To Clean A Vinyl Fence Correctly

Though you might not think it at first, vinyl fences are quite sturdy and reliable

. They resist many kinds of damage that can plague wooden fences, such as warping and rotting. Additionally, they are resistant to impact damage as well. Vinyl fences tend to remain in good condition for a very long period of time.

However, there are still things you can do to maintain your vinyl fence. One of these things is cleaning it regularly. While you do not need to clean a vinyl fence very often, it is important to clean it often enough that its appearance does not suffer.

In order to clean a vinyl fence, you will need ordinary dish soap, water, a bucket, a garden hose, and either rags or a sponge. Alternatively, if you have something else to apply your cleaning mixture to the fence with, you can use that instead.

Before you wash off your fence, you will need to mix your materials together. Put your water in the bucket, and mix the soap in thoroughly until it dissolves. Use plenty of soap, as it is hard to use too much. You can use nearly as much soap as you have water without any difficulty.

Now that you have prepared your materials, you are ready to begin working on your vinyl fence. First, whether you have chosen rags, a large sponge, or something else, put it in the bucket of soapy water and soak it thoroughly. Wring it out slightly to avoid dripping soapy water everywhere, and then wipe your fence clean.

You should be able to remove most substances from a vinyl fence fairly easily, as most substances do not stick to vinyl. However, feel free to put extra effort into scrubbing any difficult spots, as this is often the only way to get them really clean.

You may have finished removing any dirt, dust, and grime from your vinyl fence, but you are not done just yet. Before you take a break, you will need to rinse off all of the soap that has accumulated on your vinyl fence. Leaving it in place will lead to a less attractive fence that is more vulnerable to getting dirty again.

Get out your garden hose and spray your vinyl fence thoroughly. Start at the top and work your way down, being sure that you do not miss any sections of the fence. In no time at all, your fence will look as good as new.
