How To Clean Glass Made Tobacco Pipes

Tobacco pipes are available in diverse types such as wood

, metal or glass. Use of wood and metal pipes though were common in the past, nowadays glass pipes are preferred for better quality. Glass pipes do not generate any unnecessary odor like wood or metal. With use all pipes irrespective of the material it is made from needs cleaning. Following are the few effective measures to clean the glass tobacco pipes:

Use of cleansing solution

Different types of cleansing solutions are available in the market to clean the glass made tobacco pipes. These solutions remove the tobacco scar from the glass tobacco pipe. The main constituent of these solutions is isopropyl alcohol.

The cleaning method - Immerse the pipe in the solution (it is better to keep the solution in a Ziploc bag); you will notice that soft and weak remains of tobacco particles are surfacing. Now to remove the harsh tobacco residues, shake the Ziploc bag well, so that the solution reaches to every part of the pipe. This shaking of the bag will loosen up the rough tobacco particles from the surface of the glass pipe.

Preventive measures - After cleaning the glass pipe with isopropyl alcohol, you need to remove the rest of the isopropyl solution from the pipe. So, boil a large pot of water and leave the pipe in it for 15 minutes. Wait for the alcohol odor to evaporate and then remove the pipe from the water.

Scraping method

Scrape the pipe clean - To remove the left over loose tobacco fragments from the glass pipe, gently stroke the glass pipe against a hard surface. Then insert a paper clip and scrape the bowl completely. Then rotate the paper clip in the pipe to take away the tobacco debris from all sides.

Boil the pipe - A glass pipe can be easily cleaned in a pot of boiling water and allow it to boil for three to five minutes, shaking and twisting it every minute.

Final cleaning - Dry the pipe and again scrape any remaining tobacco residue out of the pipe using the paper clip.

Cleaning of glass pipe in sugar made solution

Add two cups of sugar in a small pot of water. Make sure that the amount of water can completely submerge the pipe.

Let the sugar melt completely in the water

Boil the sugar solution and pull it off of the heat. Then immerse the glass pipe gently into the sugar water with the help of a pair of tongs.

Emerge the glass pipe in the sugar solution until it is cool enough to touch. Now move the pipe smoothly through the water, allowing the sugar water to pass through each portion of the pipe.

Take the pipe out of the sugar concentration; pour all the water in the pipe back into the pot. Repeat the process several times, until the pipe is free from all tobacco residues.

Wash the glass pipe in cold water and dry it at room temperature before next use.

Warnings

Never hold a hot tobacco pipe in cold water as it may result in fracture of the glass. Again never, rinse a cold tobacco pipe in hot water as this may break the pipe.
