Since you are reading this article it is probable that your favorite pair of jeans

has been spoiled and now you are finding ways on how to clean soaked jeans. Though, the market is flooded with several products that claim to remove any stains from fabrics, they seldom work alone. Oil stains are tough and therefore require special treatment.

How To Clean Soaked Jeans

Method I

1.First of all, you should dab the oil on your pair of jeans with a tissue paper. Just press the tissue on the affected area. Do not rub too hard; otherwise the oil stain will spread.

2.Sprinkle and rub some talcum powder over the stain. Talcum powder is a good absorbent. It helps to absorb the oil that has soaked into deeper layers of denim.

3.Leave the talcum powder on the jeans for around fifteen minutes. Then, rub off all the powder with the help of a brush. You may also use an old toothbrush for the purpose.

4.If the stain is stubborn, use a fabric stain remover for erasing it. Follow the instructions given on the label. Some stain removers work instantly, which means you do not need to keep them on fabric for long while some require soaking the garment for at least thirty minutes in the solution.

5.After pre-treatment, you should wash the denim in hot water. However, make sure to read the label of the jeans to check the maximum temperature at which it can be washed.

6.Let the jeans dry in air.

Method II

Sodium bi-carbonate is useful for removing oil stains from denims. If oil stains have soaked into your jeans' fabric, you should apply sodium bi-carbonate powder over the stain. Leave it for an hour. Sodium bi-carbonate is a good absorbent and will absorb maximum oil from the stain. After an hour, scrub-off the powder with brush. You can pre-treat your soaked in jeans with stain remover or directly wash it in the washer depending upon how stained your denim is. For tough and large stains, pre-treatment with stain remover is recommended. Make sure you use hot water for washing the jeans. Dry the jeans in air.

Method III

Aerated drinks are found to be effective in removing oil stains from denims. Put around one to two liters of aerated drink in a bucket. Soak your jeans overnight in it. In the morning, wash your denim in hot water. Dry it normal.

Tips For Removing Oil Stains

1.If your denim gets oil stains, act fast. The sooner you start cleaning the stain, the easier it will be for you to remove it.

2.Do not put denim in washing machine for cleaning without pre-treatment. That will only worsen the stain.

3.After washing the denim, put it in dryer only if the stain has vanished; otherwise the stain would become even more stubborn.

4.Though most of the stain cleaners are suitable for all types of fabrics, it is best to do a spot test.
