How To Cook Bacon In The Oven

Some people didn't realize bacon could be cooked in the oven

, so the one question I always received was

how simple is it to cook bacon in the oven? Child's play my dear Watson. Turn your oven on to 375 degrees and allow it to pre-heat. Place the bacon on a foil lined cookie sheet (or a cookie rack to raise the bacon above from the tray) and cook for 15 to 20 minutes. About half way through the cooking process, I would flip the bacon. I try and gauge around the 7 minute mark. Once the bacon is done, be sure to let the bacon rest on a couple paper towels in order for the grease to drain off. I always save the grease for another fun filled cooking project. Just pour it into an empty coffee can and store it for later. Makes for great cooking fat!

Now for the secret recipe:

Lay your bacon out on the cookie sheet, rub it down with brown sugar. It doesn't matter if it's light or dark brown sugar, so utilize what you have at home already. If you don't have brown sugar, go ahead and slap yourself across your face first, then head to the store and pick some up. Oh wait.. before you head to the store and leave this article, make sure you have the other ingredient... Cayenne Pepper. After the sugar has been applied, sprinkle the Cayenne Pepper over the bacon as well. Use as little or as much as you like depending on your taste buds or if the in-laws are over. Now I don't know about you but my bacon is usually two sided, so make sure you cover both sides with the sugar and pepper. Slip that puppy into the oven and enjoy that crispy goodness.
