Of course, if you've only got a bit patch of dirt, you won't really need to remove anything, except some of the dirt, in order to make the holes that the plants will go into.

Naturally, it's best to put in plants that thrive in your area. Otherwise, you'll be spending a lot of time taking care of them. You can easily do all the research you want on the Internet. That way you won't make any mistakes and buy the wrong plants.


Aside from plants, trees, and shrubs, you are going to need some tools like shovels, tractors, and whatever else you need. If you are totally clueless, then take a class at your local home center. Also, ask the people at your local nursery and ask them what tools they recommend.

When doing any kind of project, it helps to have an end date in mind. That way, you can plan what to do every weekend on the way there. When you finish, you can easily celebrate and have a party or something.

Take a good long look at all the things you'll need to do. If you are willing to do them all yourself, and put in all the time, then great. Otherwise, know ahead of time which tasks you'll be outsourcing, so you won't have to quit something halfway through.
