You are also susceptible to oral yeast infection, eye disease, heart disease, gum disease, and some nerve damage.
Good, daily hygiene is important. Yeasts like to grow and multiply in dark, warm and moist places, which means that if your vagina is kept in this condition, you should not be surprised to see that you are a candidate of yeast infection. Choose cotton underwear, change it often and keep your vagina dry and clean all the time. Tight clothing is a no-no because it makes you sweat.
White vinegar can help. Dilute a little amount with water and apply it on the affected area. An alternative to it is tea tree oil.
Now, to stop vaginal yeast infection, the first thing to do is to control your blood sugar levels. How? Watch what you eat. Work with a nutritionist or doctor for a meal plan aimed at diabetics like you.
When it comes to diet, yogurt with live cultures is helpful. Food that has high amounts of sugar, starch and yeasts should not be eaten. It includes baked products, pastries, chocolate, bread, cookies, etc.
Also, being overweight is not good, so maintain a reasonable weight.
