How To Cut Bricks With Concrete Block Machine

If you're working on a project and the end of it is uneven

, you probably have to use quarter and half bricks to complete it. The store doesn't sell partial bricks so it's up to you to cut them with brick machine. There are a few different methods you can use.

Get a pair of safety glasses and some sturdy gloves to wear as you cut the bricks.

Take the easy route and cut the brick with a circular saw with a masonry blade. Dry cut the brick, making the cut deeper each time. Keep a fan going to chase away the dust.

Cut the brick with a masonry chisel if precision is important. Set the brick on flat sand. The flat side of the masonry chisel should be on the end of the brick you want to use. Score the brick with the chisel. Make the cutting line deep enough with the chisel to finish it off with one well placed tap.

Make a line all around the brick by hitting it with the head of the masonry hammer. Once the line is complete, hit one side sharply and the brick should separate. Trim away the rough edges with the blade on the back of the hammer.

Rent a block splitter for large jobs. Adjust the jaw using the instruction provided by the rental center. This varies from machine to machine. Raise the arm to open up the jaws to the maximum width and put the brick in. Line up the blade to the cutting line. Close the jaws until the cut is made.

If you can hook your concrete cutting machine to a garden hose, you really want to do that. There will be a nozzle connection on the side of the machine. Without water, the amount of dust created is unbelievable. The dust is also so fine that it will inevitably get in your eyes, nose and mouth regardless of your protective apparatus. You will be able to alter the flow of water through use of a valve, which will help you to not totally flood your work area.

The concrete saw cutting block machine naturally stays in a very straight line. So, once you are lined up and know how far to lower the blade to make a clean cut through the concrete, just march forward. Cutting is very slow and you have to maintain continuous pressure on the handle bars to help the blade chew forward through the concrete. Don't force it, don't push hard - this is a finesse game and you just want to help the machine do the work and not man handle it.
