Depression is one of the most common conditions in world
. One person out of five will suffer a depressive episode at one time, during her or his life.
Depression can affect both women and men, no matter what age or environment they live in.

The causes of depression are in fact a combination of factors. These can be related to some physical causes, such as a poor alimentation, the lack of physical workouts or some diseases such as the flu. Even the frequent use of energizers might lead to depression, due to the destruction of chemical processes in one's brain.
The symptoms of depression are also various and they might include: extended feelings of sadness, the loss of self-esteem and bad opinions about one's self, the loss of joy towards things that were pleasant or nice; the loss of hope and helpless feelings, inexplicable feelings of guilt and futility; anxious moods, problems in working or communicating with people, concentration difficulties; suicidal or die thoughts. If one has experienced more than two weeks of daily symptoms, one should ask for help.
There are multiple types of depression. The reactive depression is the most common type of depression. This is triggered by a traumatic, difficult or stressing event. The affected people are feeling bad, nervous, anxious or even mad. This type of depression can come up after a prolonged period of stress or even a long time after this period. The causes differ and might include changing the place where one lives, losing a parent during childhood or even the incapacity of realizing something after a long period of time.
The endogen depression is not always caused by a stressing event in life, but by a lack of equilibrium in the brain's chemical reactions. This type of depression usually comes up due to family problems.
The maniac depression is experienced by at least one of one hundred people, during their life. This type of depression - usually known as bipolar depression is very different to other types of depression. Besides the continuous feeling of unhappiness, the person in cause might experiment an amplified increase in energy and exciting moods followed by sudden drops and desperate moods. These variations may last for months. Also, the affected people might suffer from hallucinations and disillusions, they can hear and see things that do not exist. The most affected people in this case are teenagers and people in their 20s.
Postnatal depression affects 10 to 20% of women after giving birth to a child. It is a serious condition that appears two to three weeks after birth and can provoke inexplicable crying and a loneliness feeling.
