How To Decorate A Dining Hall

The majority of venues use circular tables for weddings

. Circular tables have the benefit of creating an atmosphere where all guests at the table can communicate fairly easily with one another. However, the rectangular table offers some new and exciting possibilities.

Rectangular tables appear more elegant when used in smaller venues. When laid out in a U shape with the head table connecting the two sides, there is a feel that everyone has been brought together. It's reminiscent of the feasts and banquets of kings and queens. It also allows all the guests to have a clear view of the bride and groom's table. With circular tables, a couple people at every table will naturally have their backs to the bride and groom.

Because circular tables are so commonly used, making the room look unique with them can be a bit of a challenge. However, with rectangular tables, the very set-up differentiates the space from other weddings.

Because people will be seated either directly to the side of one another, or immediately across the table, decorations can be fairly tricky, so as not to block anyone's view. An elegant way to do this is with a raised floral vase with glass candleholders. This way, the bouquets tower above the guests' heads. Candles will also offer a romantic renaissance feel to the festivities. Letting soft light filter down.

Some wedding couples may wish to have the table for the wedding party lifted up so it is on a different level from the other tables. This also helps every one see the happy couple.

Table settings are one of the key elements in decorating a dining hall. From flowers to crystals to table linens, each layer adds to the feel of the room.

Another important consideration is the lighting. You may choose to bring your own lighting to enhance the feel of the venue. For example, if you want a soft glow and the venue only has bright lights, you can bring in white lights to be hung overhead, use plenty of candles in the decoration, or have globes or orbs hanging from the ceiling.

Whether you choose a rectangular or circular table, it is really an individual choice. Circular tables are more in fad right now and allow easy open conversation with all guests at the table. However, those seated with their back to the bride and groom may feel left out. Rectangular tables on the other hand, create a very intimate and regal atmosphere. Here, the bridal table is really the center of attention and every one is allowed a view of and enjoyment of all the ceremonies of the night.
