How To Dine Out With Finesse Or Perhaps if I Do Not Find Someplace Brilliant To Take My Partn

, I waited outside the picture house alongside my kin when it was released. Right as we got near to the head of the queue the usher said that showing was full so frustrating. Mother, Dad and smaller brother went back home and having a rare show of trustworthiness they allowed me to stay with my elder sister to wait for another house. Such was the popularity of this unseen film that kids were actually granted permission to wait outside the picture house without supervision for the whole of the duration of the film. When we finally got in to the next house we were by no means unhappy and the delay became worth it.

Among my favourite scenes was then (and to this day is) the one in which Uncle Albert and Bert are transported to the top of the room by a fit of the giggles and are then joined by Mary, Jane and Michael for a floating tea party. Now I do not feel I might actually be able to discover what it'd be like to try and do this, unless of course someone decides to combine an indoor sky-diving activity with eating out (or up!).

I started out thinking about all the establishments I had been to and how many of them might be deemed quirky, such as the old jail in Liverpool in which each of the cells turned out to be a booth, private if you required the door shut. Once while wanting to seek out someplace to eat in Paris we located a small restaurant which from the exterior looked closed. It turned out that you had to knock to be allowed to enter, a precaution instigated during war time resistance that has never been relaxed; the speciality was duck that was rather excellent. But, what of other restaurants I have not patronised so far, I needed to look for somewhere to take my partner for a special birthday (more than my lifes worth to tell you which one!) naturally therefore I enlisted the assistance of good old Google for suggestions.

There is a chain of restaurants that serve up meals in absolute darkness and silence, you decide on your meal just before you go in to the dining area however you are then taken through to the pitch-black room to dine. There is no background music; all you'll be able to hear are the conversations of other customers who, of course, you are not able to see. Quite how you manage to put your wine in to your glass without spilling it is beyond me.

This one fascinated me, although I wont be taking the little lady all the way to Taiwan to test it out for myself. This restaurant has a bathroom theme; diners sit on chairs shaped like toilets and dine off tables created from bathtubs and sinks. The decoration consists of taps and lavatory signs, a roll of toilet paper hangs on top of the table top, for wiping hands on I may add.

All sorts of establishments count on the buildings theyre located in to produce quirky experiences for the discerning customer. Old warehouses with uncovered cast-iron support pillars and beams can create small romantic corners. Old (de-consecrated) chapels still with authentic stained-glass and altars if cleverly illumintaed are particularly distinctive.

My research was certainly not exhaustive but in the end I settled on a lunch-time boat trip on the Thames which has a terrific jazz trio supplying the all-important music, we both enjoyed it very much. Lets see if she can reciprocate and go one better when it is my turn to celebrate.
