the Email Marketing is one of the most powerful tools available on the Internet to communicate with my audience, to convey my ideas, develop a relationship with my readers and sometimes offer products or services of interest. It really works very well if used correctly.
The problem is that sometimes the concept that people have of Email Marketing, is to buy for $ 100 or $ 200 dollars, a list of hundreds of thousands or millions of email addresses that no one knows where it went and then sends a message announcing something.
This is NOT Email Marketing, this is SPAM and there are many problems with this practice. Some of them are:
1. - Most of the time, we do not know where they came from the email addresses in databases that are offered. There are unscrupulous individuals and companies, they use automated programs to collect Internet addresses. Any email that these programs are on websites, blogs, personal pages, chain letters, etc. add it to their data bases and thus become very quickly a large number of directions. How you can imagine, all these directions have not been verified, the recipients have not requested your information, are probably not interested and can also be annoying.
2 .- These same people can report your email as SPAM (unsolicited email) and this can bring problems such as: complaints from your recipients, and loss of credibility, penalties or cancellation of service from your ISP or Web hosting , cyber attacks and even some people who fight against SPAM so not very orthodox.
3 .- Some programs to send spam e-mail and hide your IP address ("physics" of the rising of the message) so that you can not report. However, if what you have is a serious business, do not see why you should hide behind a fake address. This does not leave a good impression and is unprofessional. And this does not necessarily save you from being reported, because if you announce a Web site message SPAM, the domain can also be reported - even if the shipping address does not correspond to it.
4 .- Anti-Spam filters are becoming more sophisticated. Many programs send SPAM leave "footprints" in the messages that process, causing them to be identified as SPAM and sent directly to your mailbox, garbage, trash or sometimes simply deleted automatically. That is, a large percentage of these emails never reach their destination.
5 .- As if this were not enough, the response rate to spam is very low. Keep in mind that people do not know you, do not expect to hear from you, probably not interested in hearing from you and certainly not going to like you occupy space in your inbox with a message that did not apply.
