How To Do Internet Marketing/The Second Step

If you read the first in my series on how to do internet marketing, you now know how to go about finding a product to sell. In this second installment I want to give you some tips on how to promote your product.

When you sign up with an affiliate marketing company you will be given an affiliate link to use in any type of promotion that you do. This link goes to the product's sales page. When someone buys something from this page you will be credited. But where do you put the link? Good question. There are many ways to promote your product. Some of them will cost you some money and some of them are free. If you're like me, you'll want the free stuff first.

The best way to market, in my opinion, is to do article marketing. What is this? You can become a published author on several article submission sites. The most popular being ezine, squidoo, goarticles and the list goes on and on. All you have to do is register and you can put your article on their sites. The great news about this is that these sites are already ranked high in search engines. So what you're doing is "piggy-backing" on their sites. What you want to do is end up on the first page of any of the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, or MSN. This should be your first goal.

What I suggest is go on the Google Keyword Tool (which is free to use) and put your subject name and it will generate every keyword that has that subject name in it. For example, if you put "weight loss" in the search box, it will generate every keyword that has weight loss in it, such as "fast weight loss", "weight loss recipes", etc. Then you search for keywords that have less than 3000 monthly searches. This limits down your competition. You use these keywords as your titles. But you have to spice up your titles so people will be more likely to read them.

Your article should be between 300-500 words long and should include the main keyword at least twice in the article. Also, you should sprinkle some relevant keywords throughout your article. Don't overdo it. The search engine spiders will go through it and if they think you're just advertising then you won't be listed. Write educational, relevant articles and you'll be okay.
