How To Escape The Rat Race

Youre caught in a trap called the rat race

Youre caught in a trap called the rat race. And you want to break free.

What exactly is the rat race and how would you personally define it? It could just as easily be likened to a hamster going round and round on the wheel in a cage. Each new day is much the same as the one before it and your trapped in this wheel just to continue to get by in the way you have become accustomed.

Whatever the definition you feel trapped.

Given below is part of the Wikipedia definition.

The rat race is a term often used to describe work, particularly excessive work; in general terms, if one works too much, one is in the rat race. This terminology contains implications that many people see work as a seemingly endless pursuit with little reward or purpose. Not all workers feel like this. It is the perceived Conventional Wisdom, for example, that those who work for themselves are generally happier at work.

The key words there refer to those who feel they would be happier working for themselves probably home-based.

Due to the marvels of the internet this is possible and hundreds of people are now happily working from their kitchen table and what is more making a creditable living so doing.

Most people live their lives unconsciously. They go about each day without even thinking the level of importance of every task. Ask yourself what would be your greatest regret if you dont wake-up tomorrow. This question will certainly make you stop and think whether you have made the best of your life.

You need to be able to think that what you are doing is productive and important in your life. Whats the point of plodding on in your mundane job, fighting the traffic during the daily commute, feeling lethargic and unfulfilled?

Ask yourself the following questions. These will keep you focused and are a powerful tool towards making the right decisions. Asking such questions is a very healthy habit to get into. If we dont analyze where we are, how can we know where we would like to be?

Why am I still in the Rat Race? If income is the main worry run the two jobs together at the start whilst youre gaining confidence. This is something that can be done when working in the home.

Am I doing what I want to do or what others such as partner, family, friends, society think I should be doing?

Am I living my values?

Is this the most important thing I can be doing at this moment?

Am I happy?

Will I regret in 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 year, or in 10 years that I drifted on in the rat race?

What action can I take right now to move forward?

If you can sincerely ask your self these questions, really take as much time as you feel you need to answer them honestly, and if you genuinely want to you could be out of the rat race alot sooner than you think.
