How To Extinguish Necrophobia, The Irrational Fear Of Death
Many people suffer from necrophobia, the fear of death and dying
. This serious fear affects thousands of people and can arise regardless of a person's health, age, or personal beliefs. It is a fear that may have far ranging consequences on a person's life. People are often afraid of anything that can be associated with death, such as burials, or less apparently, medical centers and scary films. In severe cases, the anxiety disorder leaves people paralyzed with panic. Although this fear is one of the most serious, through knowledge and therapy, sufferers can completely overcome this irrational fear.
Although most of us can understand the fear of death, when an individual experiences a phobia, they suffer from more intense, life-altering sensations of fear that can interfere with their day-to-day lives. The fear of death itself can lead to strong feelings of fear, paranoia, and serious panic attacks. Phobia sufferers often feel terrified of situations under which they have lost control.
While a few individuals experience fear all the time, in others, it is only set off by specific sights or events. For some individuals, the phobia may arise after a life-changing experience such as watching a family member pass on. The phobia is marked overall by the overwhelming feeling of an intense, irrational fear of death, dying, and all things associated with death.
The fear of death is not often as simple as it seems. This is seen because the phobia is linked to pain, hypochondria, fear of uncertainty, and other underlying concerns that make it challenging to overcome. This difficulty can be handled by a treatment designed to work against more than one phobia at a time. This is the case with a good hypnosis and NLP program.
Anxiety disorders can be treated in a number of ways. Effective treatments include talk therapy and other forms of therapy such as hypnosis, NLP, anti-anxiety medication, and stress-relief techniques. Hypnotherapy used in conjunction with NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques tends to have among the highest efficacy rates among the many treatment choices because it uses various unique ways of addressing fears and preventing anxiety.
A hypnotherapy regimen starts with anti-anxiety techniques that make the mind open to phobia-relieving suggestions. Treatment of anxiety and stress is a key part of fear treatment because it is considered to be the initial step in stopping anxiety attacks and warding off negative, fear-generating mental images.
Systematic desensitization techniques combined with the hypnotic state are another effective mechanism of treatment. Under hypnosis, a user is gently guided into visualizations of fear-triggering situations and is taught how to release anxiety. After treatment, users are able to stay rational and calm under situations which normally trigger fear. Patients also report that thoughts that normally cause fear no longer cause them distress. Systematic desensitization may also be effectively conducted without the use of hypnosis, but it then becomes a more challenging, lengthy and involved process.
The NLP Visual/Kinesthetic Disassociation is often regarded as the most successful technique to terminate irrational fears. This technique helps users "disassociate" their typical fears from the underlying, unconscious visualizations that cause a panic attack, in a process that permits them to quickly "snap out" of the sensation of fear. Due to this, therapy options with the V/K Disassociation are often considered to be "instant" phobia cures by their creators and users alike.
Hypnotherapy has used highly sophisticated techniques for fear treatment. Ericksonian hypnotherapy, so named after its inventor, Milton Erickson, MD, has proven a success in helping to re-work the thought processes that cause a phobia. Using metaphorical language, it automatically guides the unconscious mind into a new thought process. In a similar process, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is used to redirect the unconscious thought processes. With the NLP Flash technique, fear provoking thoughts will naturally be turned around to stop the fear instead, resulting in automatic phobia relief.
The fear of death can be successfully treated even at levels of high severity. Traditional techniques teamed with hypnosis can speed up the treatment process, while novel hypnosis techniques work at the level of the unconscious mind to end fear and anxiety. The non-invasiveness of hypnosis also renders it a safe treatment option as it can reduce or end the need for anti-anxiety medication. Fear patients regularly report dramatic and life-altering effects arising from hypnosis therapy. For countless sufferers of necrophobia, hypnotherapy provides a good form of treatment.
