How To Find The Right Network Marketing Opportunity
What do you think is the most important factor when considering a network marketing opportunity
? If you're like Jeff, a former downline member of mine who had been pretty brainwashed from being taught old school network marketing techniques, you'll probably say the most important factor are the company's products.
If I only had a nickel for every time an upline member told me, "You don't even have to do any selling; these products sell themselves." Well, I can tell you with absolute certainty that anybody who says that is lying through their teeth. My proof?
Well, 6 months after being told I needed to do nothing to sell these products, the products still sat in my garage. My bank account remained zero. Regardless of how awesome your products are, and of how many people tell you the contrary, your products will not sell themselves. If they did, why would your company even need you?
Another downline member told me she believed the company was the most important factor when deciding on which network marketing opportunity to go with. She said that it's important to find a company with a solid track record, who offered a wide variety of products. And, while there's something to be said about finding a solid company, it's not the most important factor. Not by far.
In fact, I've personally been involved in many companies who were well established but, because I didn't get much needed support from my upline, I failed miserably. I've literally spent thousands and thousands of dollars before it hit me. Choosing a network marketing opportunity has little to do with products or the company itself.
For some reason, I don't see this listed much as a top priority in most companies. It's like they keep it hidden and locked away, like a secret only certain initiates are allowed to use. Yet it is of paramount importance when evaluating a network marketing opportunity. What is it?
If you're like me, when you joined your company you probably went to their website to check out their training area first. Then, if you're still like me a couple months later, you're frustrated at the results you've gotten by following your company's advice. Why is this?
Because, chances are, your company's idea of "training" differs dramatically from what works in the real world. For example, what's the first thing most companies tell you to do? That's right, make a list. This list has the name of everybody you've spoken to ever in your entire life. Friends, family, acquaintances, and your garbage man are all supposed to be on your list.
If you've performed this act of stupidity, no doubt you realize this is no way to run a business. What's more, most people quit within 3 months of being given these instructions, and this is their entire experience with network marketing. Is it any wonder this industry has such a bad reputation?
The key to choosing a network marketing opportunity, then, if you haven't figured it out already, is training. You'll want to look beyond the company and its products, and find an upline who knows what they're doing.
This is, without a doubt, the most effective way to choose a network marketing opportunity.
