In order to replace your current kitchen unit doors
, the first step in this task is to remove your existing cupboard doors from its hinges. In nearly every instance there should be at least two hinges. Remove the hinges starting with the cupboard door for you whilst unscrewing the hinges. This is to reduce the risk of injury.
Place the old cupboard door on a surface such as a workbench or table and remove all the hardware from it. This will include the hinges, handle/knob and a mechanical or magnetic latch. Should any of the hardware appear greatly worn or fragile, they may require replacing. Ensure that the new door fits the opening. Replace all the old hardware or any newly purchased hardware onto the new door. Ensure this includes the hinges, handles/knobs and one piece from the catch system if your door uses this type of locking system. Mark with a pencil the location of where the hinge screws will go on your new kitchen door. Using a power drill, drill the holes into the kitchen cupboard door making sure that the drill bit is narrower than the width of the screw.
Place the new door in your desired location by installing the hinges, starting with the top screw of the hinge working your way down to the bottom hinge. Ensure the screws are firmly in place and test that the door swings freely. Check that the latching system works correctly.
