How To Fix A Leaking Toilet

The home toilet is a place which needs constant cleaning and maintenance

. It is also the place where most of the sanitation problems most frequently occur. Most problems can be overcome by home owner himself and in most cases he needs to call a professional plumber. Leaking of toilet is also another common problem which results in anxiety i.e. calling a plumber, paying him fees, valuable time spending etc. but don not worry, this type of leak is easy to sort out and fix, even if you have not any sort of plumbing repair experience. In the next few lines I am going to describe that how you can fix toilet leaks by yourself without spending a single penny. You just need to understand some basic things about the functioning of toilet system.

If you are suspicious about whether your toilet bowl is leaking or not, you need not to worry about it, just examine it with the help of simple and easy test which will enable you to sort out the exact location of leakage. Pour some drops of food color in the water of toilet bowl and forbid everyone in the home to use that toilet after half an hour if you find the symptoms of any color in the bowl it means that your toilet bowl is leaking. The leak in general is not going to harm you but in actual terms it is going to escalate your water bill. So it is in your best interest to fix the leakage of your toilet bowl. Usually the leak problem appears when the seal under the toilet bowl does not work properly or in other words it fails to do its exact job. You will notice that water is pooling around the base of your toilet which shows that that the seal which is responsible for leak prevention has failed.

Use some old newspapers for sucking of water from the floor and wait until it dries out. Before doing that type of work you must put on a pair of thin rubber gloves because it can protect you against bacteria and germs. Now examine carefully that from where the water is actually coming, whether it is coming from a loose supply tube, from a turn off valve or from a broken tank. If you find that water is leaking from the base of the toilet bowl, you can stop it by simply tightening the closet bolts that holds the toilet bowl to the floor. Use a wrench or some other type of similar tool for tightening each bolt again, but you must make sure that you have not applied much pressure.

If you analyze that the water is coming from the handle of the toilet bowl, you may simply need to re adjust the flush ball because this leak means that the flush ball is placed on much height than its original location. Readjust it and stop leakage, if you find that flush ball has damaged or broken then the right solution is to replace the damaged flush ball with the new one which could sole your leakage problem permanently
