Marketing with Yahoo Groups can be an effective way of marketing for your business

. But if you do things the wrong way, then you can easily ruin your reputation with people in the online world. Here is an easy example of how to do this: You jump onto Yahoo Groups and then your heart starts to beat fast! You have just discovered over 30 Yahoo groups with tons of members who fit perfectly into your target market. You then start the joining process, and are accepted to all 30 groups because you tell the moderator that you have "something to add" to the community.

You then purchase some simple software that will automate your Yahoo Groups postings for you. Each day you then proceed to post your "contribution" to all 30 groups. You then get excited as you see that you are starting to get a few free visitors per day to your website. Shortly afterwards, one by one, the group moderators kick you out of their groups, marking you as a SPAMMER!

Now, if by chance there has been someone that taught you that this was a good idea to try for obtaining free traffic, I am not saying that they are 100% wrong, especially because I am about to teach you the "right" way of marketing with Yahoo Groups. The problem is that people follow the above "game plan" step-by-step and what they are doing can easily be seen as spam by others. People who participate in these Yahoo Groups are in these groups so that people can share information together as a community. And when you place an advertisement within these groups, most people can't stand it!

Now, if you want to follow the above game plan, then there is a way that you can do it the right way. I will use this article as an example. Right now I am sharing some good information with you. You are in the 3rd paragraph of the article right now. Not once have I tried to send you to one of my websites, nor have I tried to send you somewhere through one of my many affiliate links. There is a right time and a right place for me to do so. If I do it wrong, then my article will more than likely be rejected by the majority of the article directory sites.

But if I can write a great article, and then only put my website information in the "about the author" box, then four great things will happen: 1. My article will get accepted by most article directory sites. 2. This means that my article will actually get read 3. If people read this article and like the information provided, then they will actually get to the bottom of the article! 4. If people get to the bottom of my article and see that I have even more to offer them, then they will likely click through to my website.

So, what does this mean that you should do in Yahoo Groups? This means that you should actually take the time to contribute to the group instead of just placing advertisements. If you make a contribution to the group, then it will be viewed as o.k. to maybe mention your website at the end of your contribution. People will then appreciate what you have added to the group and then will probably click through to your website. In most groups, this is the acceptable way of doing things.

Now, there is one more really great way of marketing with Yahoo Groups the right way. Many people don't want to use this method because it actually involves work. But, if you get through the "hard" part of this process, then you will start to get tons of free traffic and leads, right through Yahoo Groups!

This really effective way of obtaining free traffic and leads is by actually taking the time to start and grow your own group. If you create a great group, and work hard to grow it, then eventually the group will take on a life of its own. But why? Because generally very few people want to be part of a "small" group. But if someone sees a group of 1,000 people who share a common interest, then that is a great group to join! So, if you take the effort to grow your group to a certain number, then the group will then start to grow more and more without much effort on your part. And then comes the cool part: You will be able to "spam" your own group! And the really great thing is that people won't even see your advertisements as spam since these messages are coming straight from the group moderator.
