How To Get Great Photos In Foggy Day

I always say that many great photos are from extreme weather

. In those extreme weathers, fog must be the easiest one. Admire the awesome photos of fog on Flickr? Why not try your own? It is not as hard as you think.

Fog photography is one of my most favorite as the blur feeling. Below are the tricks that I learn from my experiences, maybe you can get some idea from it.

Close to the subject meter, make the scene more structured

When we are shooting in thick fog, due to low visibility, if you using the average metering, the rich layering work is difficult to obtain; this time, it is recommended you close to a stone or a tree as the main subject for metering and then choose the right exposure value.

Select a more appropriate white balance and creating unique atmosphere

Under the environment of fog, the camera's automatic white balance will let your photos blue, if you want quieter, you can consider "fluorescent white balance", or with a manual white balance setting high color temperature to strong the blue; but if you want less blue, and restore the color, you can select low color temperature settings, or orange filters to reduce blue.

Fog is not always beautiful, even sometimes it is dangerous. The fog that created by the industrial production can make people die. In 1952, London, due to the coal-fired smoke resulted in thousands of deaths; in addition, low visibility prevents water, land and air traffic, caused the accident. These three devices are recommended to you for your safe: head lamp, GPS Navigator, and searchlight.

Best destinations for fog photography.

That is no doubt the mountains, lakes, and rivers are the best destination. So try to go to the northern mountain areas in the autumn. They wont let you disappoint.

Protect the camera and yourself

During the autumn and winter seasons going to the forest, or mountains, water tourism for photography, moisture is the most important thing you need to do! To yourself, the emergency unit, quick drying, waterproof clothing, hats, glasses, non-slip shoes, and other outdoor equipments are your walking needs in fog trip; in addition, remember to prepare the lights or torches, let you have a bigger sight in the fog. If you are lost in the mist, the GPS is useful now.

Appropriate over-exposure

Mist can easily make sense of layers, so while shooting, you can appropriate to increase of 0.3-1 exposure compensation.

Shooting in the foggy day will be a pleasing job if you do as the steps above. To view more photography, politic, and sports articles, welcome to my blog or qhredcross
