Instead, try to figure out something that is descriptive, memorable, and short. No more than two or three linked words are the rule.

The next thing to ensure is that your site is easy to navigate. By that, it is meant that your home page should be laid out with the right buttons, links and other pages in such a way that a visitor can find what he or she needs to know with no muss and no fuss. If they have difficulty doing that, they probably won't come back in the future.

Fortunately, there are thousands and thousands of templates out there free for the asking, and optimized for performance. You may want to go with something that is already set up, at least for the short term. You can also have someone skilled in website design make one for you, or purchase a premium theme, with many features. They are not very expensive, these days either.

The most important thing of all, though, is content. This means that the site has plenty of interesting and ever-changing information that people will want to come back and see, repeatedly. The general rule of thumb on many sites is that content is either added to or revised a few times a week.

This doesn't mean that merchandise has to always be switched, for example, but it does mean that the home page should be rearranged and any blog posts or stories and photos and the like be revised, changed, added or subtracted on a regular basis. In addition, always make sure that the content is relevant to the target audience. If you do just these few things, chances of return site visits go up appreciably.
