How To Get Rid Of Pet Stains From Carpet
For a house with pets, it is quite common to have carpets soiled with pee and poop stains
. No matter how much you try to prevent it, it is bound to happen sooner or later and the results can be extremely unpleasant. You would want to get rid the carpet off pet stains as quickly as possible or else it will begin to stink and may even result in irreversible damage.
It is best to apply a cleaning agent that would clean the carpet thoroughly rather than just masking the stain and odor. The below mentioned tips will help remove biological and other stains from your carpet and keep it spotless. It is recommended that you put on protective gloves before using any synthetic cleaning liquid.
Getting Rid of Pet Stains
Before using any cleaning product, you should soak away any visible stains using a few paper towels. Remember to use a blotting action and not to rub as it may worsen the problem at hand.
The next step would be to use a cleaning product to treat the stain. You can use any of the cleaning liquids available in a pet shop or even a regular cleaning product that you would use to clean other areas of the house. However, it is to be noted here that some synthetic liquids may not be compatible with various fibers. Be sure to check that the product you use should not do any harm to your carpet. To check if the product suits your carpet, use it on one of the edges.
Apply the liquid to a paper towel and gently rub it on the affected area. Clean a little outside the edges of visible marks as the stains can easily spread. Allow the product some time to completely dissolve the stain. After a while, soak a few paper towels in a mixture of water and borax and place it on the affected area to remove any remaining stains. Rinse the carpet carefully with clean water and dry it using a dryer.
Note: Chemicals and cleaning liquids should never be mixed together as it may cause a reaction. It is also recommended that you test a product on an inconsequential area before applying it on the actual surface to be cleaned to make sure it does not do any harm to the material. You should also wear gloves and other protective equipment before using even mild products.
