How To Get Rid of Stomach Flab - Please Do Not Do This!

Please do not be one of those people I see at the gym who make me want to rip my hair out

. I just ask you use common sense for a common question - how to get rid of dreaded stomach flab?

The one thing that makes me want to poke my eyes with a sharp pencil is seeing someone in the gym trying to lose that ugly stomach pouch with this one exercise. That exercise being sit ups. Easily the most useless exercise for getting rid of your stomach flab or even giving you defined toned abs.

Ok, I guess I owe you an apology for saying that this is common sense. It is hard for people to evolve from this traditional exercise because somewhere back in the 1900's some genius let out a rumor that the one answer to get a 6 pack or get rid of stomach flab is sit ups. Somehow this rumor was carried into the 21st century, inspiring more people to push out 50-100-200-500 sit ups a day to try and achieve this dreamy stomach everyone wants. Well sit ups will not get rid of your stomach pouch or give you a 6 pack.

We all know, or I hope we all know that exercise is only one of the many necessities needed for ridding your stomach of unwanted flab. Another main aspect is diet - but you are more than capable of easily finding that information in some other article. All I want to do is explain to you why sit ups are ineffective, useless, and a complete waste of your time whether your hopes are obtaining a 6 pack or becoming informed on how to get rid of stomach flab.


Let me start with that nice stomach pouch people have comfortably achieved to gain on their stomachs and why sit ups are an ineffective way to get rid of that ugly pouch. First of all in order to lose that stomach fat you need to do something that will create you to burn enough energy that requires you to tap into those fat reserves around your stomach. I'm sorry, but sit ups just don't cut it. They don't require the necessary energy in order for your body to 'need' those fat reserves found on your stomach. It is an isolated exercise only targeting a minimal muscle group within your abdominals and does not require an extensive range of motion to incorporate different muscle groups to assist in the exercise. The answer for losing stomach flab is not found with sit ups, but more dynamic exercises that cause your heart rate and metabolism to increase. So what's the rule of thumb to achieve this? Well it's quite simple, exercise larger muscle groups and incorporate exercises that target more than one muscle group (dead lift, squats, lunges, bench press etc.)


Onto part 2, you achieved getting rid of your stomach flab, but you have no definition for your abdominals. Again, sit ups are not your answer. I pointed out before sit ups are an isolation exercise and the only muscle group they target is the rectus abdominus muscles. Effective abdominal exercises that give you a 6 pack are dynamic exercises that target the whole core - upper abs, lower abs, obliques, interior and exterior, lower back and the glutes. Any exercise that targets more than one of these sections is effective and a good use of your time. So why would you want to perform sit ups to achieve a 6 pack when almost any other abdominal exercise is exponentially better? I really have no idea.

I hope I have successfully convinced you that if you are interested in getting rid of stomach flab or reaching your 6 pack goals you should follow my advice and never do sit ups....again.
